A Global Phenomenon.
LYCRA branded fibers and fabrics help the world look better, move better, feel better.
For almost half a century, LYCRA products have been hugely influential in defining fashion trends. Leading design houses and apparel brands turn to LYCRA products to bring performance benefits to their garments, increasing consumer appeal through re-defining expectations and setting new standards in apparel.
A powerful global brand.
Invented in 1958 by a DuPont team of scientists, LYCRA fiber was originally created as a replacement for rubber in corsetry. Today, the premium stretch fiber can be found in almost any garment made from natural and man-made fibers: from denim and leather to the finest silks and cottons. The LYCRA brand business has consistently invested in direct to consumer marketing and is today one of the world’s most famous ingredient brands. Such is the value and equity of the brand that LYCRA is now being licensed by other leading companies such as Coty for the Rimmel and Astor brands. The LYCRA brand is a vibrant, evolving fashion icon that has kept apace with consumer needs to give it an unrivalled position within the apparel industry.
Interbrand, a globally recognised authority, rates LYCRA amongst the world’s top ten apparel brands. Research repeatedly shows that the famous LYCRA brand wave logo is familiar to over 90% of target consumers.
LYCRA is a universal symbol of fashion, freedom and fun – from New York to Rio; Paris to Beijing; Moscow to Mumbai. It has a loyal following from boutiques to malls – and habitual shoppers of garments made with LYCRA fiber have indicated that they are prepared to pay a premium for the benefits it brings.
The global “Some Clothes Love You Back” consumer advertising campaign is showcased at Paris’s SIL fair, India’s Images Fashion Forum, New York Fashion Week as well as events in Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, Japan and Shanghai. The campaign demonstrates that LYCRA fiber remains a fiber of choice among leading names within the fashion and textile industry. Zac Posen, denim brands True Religion and J Brand and lingerie icons La Perla and Chantelle, are all featured in the initial images for the ‘Some Clothes Love You Back’ campaign. The twelve signature images feature a range of LYCRA fiber innovations in Intimate Apparel, Swimwear, Legwear, Sweaters, Denim, Dresses and Active Wear. LYCRA fibre is unique and continues to differentiate itself from all other fibres through ongoing innovation. Recent developments include, XFIT LYCRA fabric, LYCRA Black fiber, Xtra Life LYCRA fiber, LYCRA FREEF!T™ fabric, LYCRA spaFX™ fabric and LYCRA freshFX™ fabric and fiber.
