Denim trends come and go, but consumers always expect comfort and performance. And when it comes to jeans, spandex and elastane fiber technology makes all the difference.
In recent years, away-from-the-body silhouettes have gained popularity among younger consumers. But while the era of skin-tight, ultra-stretch skinny jeans may be in the past, rigid, 100% cotton jeans can feel restrictive and often lose their shape over time because they lack recovery power — and that’s just not good enough for on-the-go consumers.
The demand for stretch denim fabrics — especially from the waist to the knees — has only intensified. According to a report from Cognitive Market Research, consumers are willing to pay for comfortable stretch fabrics, premium quality, and innovative fits.
Our 2025 consumer research* confirmed the same: Of the more than 2,500 participants we surveyed — from ages 18 to 59 and in six countries — 69% said that being able to "move freely and easily" was a top criterion for choosing ready-to-wear clothes.

LYCRA® T400® fiber is compatible with established polyester recycling processes.
